Presso Machine Makes Progress
According to Thibault Corens, Co-founder & CTO at Presso, a year ago at the Clean Show, Presso had a booth displaying their Presso dry cleaning machine and an AirTouch, that they designed and built from scratch in 2 months. It worked, and they left with a stack of orders and a decision to make.
They took the slower path. They pulled the Presso Machine apart and rebuilt it, for reliability and manufacturability before they scaled anything.
In parallel they went back to the AirTouch. The one they brought to the Clean Show that proved the concept. The company spent the year overhauling it into a one-of-a-kind automated stain removal station. With the first units getting delivered next month.
Corens states, a year ago their only production line was a scrappy in-house setup and they averaged 5 machines a month. They are now on track for 30, with three lines running in China, Mexico, and Atlanta. 175 units are in production right now, another 150 before the end of the year. All of it with a lean, focused team.
Next year will be bigger than this one, and manufacturing and supply is where Corens is feeling it the most. If you’ve taken a hardware company through a real ramp, and you’re the person people call when a line stops, Thibault Coren would like to talk.
